• Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are situated in a generally tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.

The initial Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling hall, contains 150 slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that features many amenities accompanying the gambling hall, which has ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
